Sunshine Ace Grows B2B Business with BlueTarp’s Credit Platform

Sunshine Ace is a family-owned, multi-store supplier in Southwest Florida. Since 1958, it has offered traditional hardware products as well as a variety of fishing gear & supplies, grills & accessories, and outdoor power equipment.

Focused on B2B growth, Sunshine Ace looked for a credit partner that could help them free up cash flow, provide extended terms, and protect them from risk.

Scaling for Growth

“The main reason we partnered with BlueTarp was to grow our B2B division without tying up our capital resources,” said Helena Dabrowski, Director of Finance. “We knew we needed larger credit lines for business customers but couldn’t tie up our receivables. With BlueTarp, we can give customers what they need and use our capital for other investments.”

Sunshine Ace has also boosted B2B business by offering extended terms to their big customers. “It offers great flexibility for those that have big job sites and rely on payments from other contractors,” said Helena.

BlueTarp pays Sunshine Ace upfront for every B2B sale and takes on the risk of non-payment. Freeing up cash flow has helped Sunshine Ace make six acquisitions over the last four years as well as make major purchases like forklifts and vehicles.

BlueTarp As An Extension of the Credit Team 

“I was nervous about BlueTarp at first,” said Lisa Daley, Accounts Receivables. “I’ve been in this position for 15 years, and a third party was coming in to handle some of my tasks. But now, I don’t know what I’d do without them.”  

Before BlueTarp, Lisa spent most of her time processing statements and payments for nearly 4,000 customers.  She also handled collections, reported bad debt to the credit bureaus and complied with their guidelines.  With BlueTarp now managing the service, billing, and cash applications for Sunshine Ace, Lisa has a lot more time to focus on the operations and customer relationships at all 13 stores.

“It’s great to partner with someone who has the same level of customer service that we do. For a lot of Ace dealers, customer service is how we differentiate ourselves,” said Helena.

“BlueTarp’s customer service is flawless,” said Lisa. “Every time I call, they are personable, smart, fast – I’ve never been on hold for longer than a minute. If a customer needs a credit line increase, it’s done in five minutes.”

Customers experienced a seamless transition from Sunshine Ace’s in-house program to the BlueTarp platform and now take advantage of additional benefits like online tools to track purchases, see available credit, make payments, and create invoices for their customers.

“When we transitioned to BlueTarp, our customers loved the ability to generate invoices for their clients with the online tools. It’s a really cool feature,” said Helena.
